My last day of observations was on Thursday and it was quite an interesting day! The teacher said I was going to run the class for the day while she worked on some report card grades. I gave the children their spelling and vocabulary test and graded them. After their tests, the children had snack while I read aloud to them. I continued with the book The Boxcar Children. After lunch, I continued the teacher's lesson about geometric shapes, At the end of the day, the kids had a "spring" party where they went on a mini Easter egg hunt and had ice cream sundaes. It was a quick and fun day, and I'm so happy I was able to spend the day with them!
On Thursday, a big part of the day was rehearsing for the children's play. They are performing a patriotic play in a few weeks, all about our country and its states and presidents. I'm super excited to see them in a few weeks and see how it all comes together! They have been working so hard on it and majority of the class has their lines memorized! Their main focus is to practice the songs they will be singing and getting props and decorations ready for the stage and gym the performance will be in. They've been making lots of props and decorations so far. I'm so proud of the hard work they've been pulling these past few weeks!
It was so sad to leave them. I'm going to miss them so much! Some of the kids drew pictures for me as a nice little memory. While it's a goodbye for them in the classroom, it's not goodbye seeing all of them yet--I'll be seeing them again in their play in May!
Kristin, I know exactly how you feel! I finished my observations last Wednesday and I was so sad that I wasn't going to be able to see the classes anymore. That is so cool that you got to teach the class for the whole day! You must have had so much fun doing that! I wish that some of my students drew me pictures! Have fun watching them in their patriotic play!
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty neat! I was nervous at first but I've taught Religious Education for a few years so I was pretty confident in running the class!
